The Property Council has unveiled its State Development of the Year finalists as part of its national Innovation and Excellence Awards program.

Retirement living was one of nine categories for which developments could be nominated and though just four retirement villages have been named amongst the 141 finalists.

The number of finalists in the residential developments and master planned communities that market themselves strongly to retirees highlights the shift away from retirement village accomodation and increased focused on integrating retirees and older Australians into the general community.

The finalists in the Retirement Village category are:

Life Style Manor by Independent and Assisted Living (NSW)

Wivenhoe Village by Wivenhoe Partnership / Mbark / Sisters of Good Samaritan (NSW)

Mernda Retirement Living Development Village by Stockland (VIC)

The Village Coorparoo by The Village at Coorparoo (QLD)

The full list of finalists can be viewed here.

A winner will be announced for each state at the respective awards evenings over the coming months and all finalists will go on to the national awards, taking place in Sydney on 5 May.
