Aged Care Data Compare to trial solution for benchmarking standard

Aged Care Data Compare (ACDC) is set to trial a new quality benchmarking and reporting solution for the residential aged care sector. ACDC Plus will test a prototype aged care quality indicator app that will be used to lift the bar on quality reporting measures.

The initiative comes at a critical time for Australia, which still lacks a transparent and consistent aged care quality benchmarking solution. The project will be led by the Digital Health Cooperative Research Centre (DHCRC), the University of Queensland (UQ), and software supplier AutumnCare, and will involve provider Regis Aged Care.

The HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (HL7 FHIR) data exchange specification will be used to extract data from Regis’ clinical information system to support the calculation of evidence-based quality indicators.

The project will also trial a secure data and analytics platform to generate risk-adjusted quality indicators and implement co-designed user dashboards for Regis’ care staff. The project will run for two years with regular updates to be delivered to the aged care sector, industry, and government.
