Aged care still driving building in QLD despite market drop

Tenders totalling more than $500 million that largely comprise aged care developments are fuelling competition across the building and construction in southeast Queensland.

A report in The Australian earlier this week identified a number of tenders by aged care providers ranging in value from $10m to $100m in and around Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.

The providers are Aura Australia Holdings, Aveo, Clanwilliam, Freedom Aged Care, Buderim Views Aged Care, McKenzie and Catholic Healthcare.

The Buderim Views aged care is seeking tenders for its Sunshine Coast facility, valued between $20m and $30m.

Freedom Aged Care in Logan south of Brisbane, and the Clanwilliam Nerang Nursing Home both have tenders out for $20m to $30m builds.

Despite this The Australian reported that figures are down, with building approvals peaking in October last year at $630m before dropping to about $450m in December.
