Benetas, a not-for-profit aged care provider in Victoria, has announced Julia Pryor as its new Chair, succeeding Michael Urwin, who has led the organisation over the last six years.
Ms Pryor, Chief Risk Officer, Wealth at AMP and a Benetas Board member since 2019, brings over 20 years of expertise in legal, governance, risk, and compliance. Known for her strategic and pragmatic approach, she has guided businesses through complex transformations and regulatory reforms.
“I am deeply committed to Benetas’ mission and values and look forward to building on the impactful work achieved under Michael’s leadership,” Ms Pryor said.
Mr Urwin will remain on the Board for another year, capping nine years of service. During his tenure, he provided critical guidance during the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety and steered Benetas with compassion through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. He oversaw initiatives like the upcoming St Laurence Court affordable housing refurbishment in Bendigo.
“It has been an honour to serve as Chair, witnessing the dedication of aged care staff, particularly at Benetas,” Mr Urwin said.
The leadership transition positions Benetas for continued growth and excellence in serving older Australians.
