BESTMED has announced a major step forward in its mission to strengthen digital health connectivity across Australia, unveiling new integrations that promise safer and more efficient care for aged care residents.
From 1 October, the BESTMED platform will be fully conformant with electronic prescribing-enabled National Residential Medication Charts (eNRMC). This advancement means prescriptions will be automatically uploaded to the National Prescription Delivery Service (NPDS), with medication charts reviewed every six months. The onboarding team is working with providers to ensure a smooth transition.
In a further boost to continuity of care, BESTMED now supports the upload of Aged Care Transfer Summaries to My Health Record. This capability allows critical health information to move seamlessly with residents as they transition between services, such as hospital admissions, reducing the risk of errors.
As previously reported, BESTMED recently confirmed integration with Best Practice GP software – used by more than 65% of GP practices nationwide. The integration will enable doctors to access BESTMED directly from their Best Practice system, eliminating time-consuming duplication and streamlining workflows.

Mr Offer acknowledged industry-wide collaboration for the achievement, calling out the Department of Health, Australian Digital Health Agency, software providers and the Medical Software Industry Association for their contributions. “Reaching this milestone has taken hundreds of people working together over many years to improve safety through interoperability,” he said. “BESTMED is proud to be an active participant and stands ready to work on version 4.”
BESTMED’s cloud-based, real-time solutions are in use across residential aged care, retirement living, NDIS and home care settings, serving as a connected medication management network between carers, pharmacies, doctors and families.
