Bolton Clarke has expanded its residential aged care presence into metropolitan Sydney with the acquisition of Cabrini Care at Westmead.
The purchase includes the recently-redeveloped 120-bed aged care site and an 8,300 square metre prime development site close to the major Westmead Hospital precinct with consent for 64 independent living units.
It is part of a program of expansion and innovation aimed at building Bolton Clarke’s capacity to deliver services on a national and international scale and reinvest in research and training to grow the broader health and aged care sector and promote customer participation, choice and social connectedness.
Bolton Clarke also recently acquired the Glendale residential care community in Townsville, adding the two-year-old, 90-bed residential site to an existing Townsville presence including its residential and retirement community at Rowes Bay and an established At Home Support service.
The group manages more than 6,000 residential aged care and retirement living units and delivers more than 5 million home support visits each year.
In 2018 the organisation will expand its built-form footprint further south into Victoria, with work set to start on the conversion of its Alma Rd, St Kilda office into 81 luxury retirement units and the development of an integrated community including 72 residential aged care beds, 51 supported living apartments and 144 retirement units at Bundoora, expected to be completed by 2020.
Its development pipeline also includes:
- Construction of 56 residential care and assisted living apartments offering flexible care options on a 6,417 square-metre waterfront site at Bundall, near Surfers Paradise on Queensland’s Gold Coast;
- A 60-bed expansion of the Bolton Clarke Moreton Shores residential aged care community at Thornlands, Queensland;
- A major expansion of the Bolton Clarke Breezes Lifestyle Village in Mackay, Queensland incorporating a co-located 72-bed residential aged care community architecturally designed to international dementia care standards;
- Development of a new 120-unit retirement living community at Cleveland, Queensland.

Services expansion has included delivery of the beyondblue developed NewAccess early intervention mental health coaching service across a growing area including Victoria, South Australia, the NSW North Coast and the South Western Sydney and Central Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network regions.
