Consumer-focused models of residential care

The Ideal Group has released an analysis of current models of residential aged care that draws from examples from around the world.

The consultancy which specialises in strategic and operational support for aged care providers has reviewed nine different models of care and accommodation for residential care operators.

“Residential aged care is and will continue to be a big part of supporting our ageing population. Today around 187,000 people are living in residential aged care; moving to a congregate living environment is a difficult decision that has to be made when there are realistically no other options available,” said Louise Greene, a Director at The Ideal Group.

“Investment in aged care development has increased and the number of building approvals for upgrades and new facilities continues to rise.

“Providers need to develop an accommodation, care and service model that aligns with their business model, consumer expectations and the aged care standards. There are numerous models of aged care throughout the world that can be drawn upon to meet the needs and expectations of consumers,” said Ms Greene.
