Developing for an Ageing Australia summit

A new one-day summit for people interested in building design and urban development with a focus on ageing will be held in August.

Developing for an Ageing Australia summit has been organised by The Urban Developer and brings together leaders in the sector for an intensive day showcasing the latest research, expert perspective, case studies and networking.

The event will be run in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney and aims to provide a deeper understanding the major forces shaping the sector.

Topics covered will include a research-led perspective on the state of the aged care and retirement development sector, an interactive panel discussion on the different development and operating models currently being adopted, and an insightful discussion into how growing consumer advocacy is driving change in sector.

A number of case studies will be presented that look at:

MICRO-TOWN COMMUNITIES: A case study into an innovative new model that private developers can tap into.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN: A case study into sustainable development strategies that can reduce resident costs, operating costs and carbon emissions.

VERTICAL LIVING: A case study into the vertical living development model.

DELIVERING “AGE FRIENDLY” HOUSING: A case study on how designing for dementia can inform the design of our cities.

HIGH CARE LIVING/ASSISTED LIVING: A case study in how the emerging assisted living apartment model in seniors’ living is reducing the need for consumers to enter high-care residential aged care. Assisted living is providing an age-in-place alternative in a secure and accessible environment.

DESIGNING FOR DIGNITY – Perspectives on Delivering Quality for an Ageing Population: In conversation with leading developers and designers to explore the design, community and lifestyle principles that create a sense of place.

A DISRUPTIVE OPPORTUNITY – How Innovation and Technology Are Delivering New Solutions to Old Problems: A fascinating showcase of new technologies that are changing the way the industry responds to the growing challenge of delivering care.
