IRT’s Falls Predictor System, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) solution, clinched top honours at the iTnews Benchmark Awards 2024, winning Australian Technology Project of the Year and Best Health Project.

Developed by IRT, the system aims to mitigate the prevalent issue of falls and injuries among older individuals.

In a statement, CEO Patrick Reid highlighted his team’s collaborative effort across IT, home care, and aged care sectors.

The system utilises AI and machine learning to analyse personal data, identifying individuals at higher risk of falling by examining factors such as medication, sleep patterns, and weight changes.

“Winning this award is an amazing achievement for everyone involved. We were up against some very steep competition, and I am thrilled for all of our IT, Home Care and Aged Care Centre staff who worked together on this project to achieve success”

Patrick Reid, IRT CEO

Leveraging data from assessments, care plans, and allied health reports, the system fosters proactive fall prevention strategies tailored to individual needs, including physiotherapy, dietary adjustments, and environmental modifications.

The system’s design will likely help with conversations between staff, family members, and residents, facilitating personalised preventative measures.
