Benetas has appointed Lisa Tribuzio to lead the Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing (CCDA), and deliver the objectives of the Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) program to improve the relationships between providers and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.
The CCDA developed the Inclusive Service Standards, designed to support aged care providers meet the standards but more importantly meet the diverse needs of older Australians.
Benetas CEO Sandra Hills OAM said Lisa is incredibly accomplished and brings a significant breadth of relevant experience to this important advocacy role.
“I am confident Lisa’s background and passion will see her thrive and ensure the voices of older people from CALD backgrounds are heard and their specific needs identified and addressed in appropriate, innovative and creative ways,” she said.
Lisa said of her appointment, “I aim to actively listen, develop constructive relationships focussing on the needs of the community, and tap into empathy to support a changing aged care sector”.
“Some of my key objectives in taking on this role are to build on the strong foundations already in place and to be proactive in creating new opportunities to achieve more inclusive and culturally safe practice and workplaces in the aged care sector”.
Lisa’s most recent role was Assistant Director for Inclusion strategies for the National Disability Insurance Agency. She has had 20 years experiences in a range of sectors and held roles including Diversity Advisor for the Hume Whittlesea Primary Care Partnership overseeing diversity planning and practice in Melbourne’s North Metro region for CHSP and HACC-PYP providers, Youth Services Manager for the Victorian Arabic Social Services, Refugee and Asylum Seeker Partnership Coordinator at Spectrum, and as a researcher at the Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation at Deakin University in Melbourne. She has also undertaken cross cultural research in Egypt for the Centre for Intercultural Dialogue in Cairo.
Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science (Psychology), a Bachelor of Social Work, Masters in Islamic Studies and a Graduate Diploma in Creative Arts Therapy.
