Looking beyond Australia for palliative care approaches

Palliative Care Australia has announced its 2019 conference will be held in partnership with Hospice New Zealand and renamed Oceanic Palliative Care Conference (19OPCC).

The biennial event attracts people from around the world who provide end of life care – carers, clinicians, policy makers and academics.

The 2019 event will be held in Perth from 10-13 September.

“The new collaboration will not only strengthen the ties between Australia and New Zealand, but provides an opportunity to facilitate knowledge and skills transfer across the oceanic region,” Palliative Care Australia CEO Liz Callaghan said.

“Together there is a lot we can offer one another in our endeavours to provide quality palliative care as well as making our collective knowledge available to the rest of the world.”

“We are also fortunate to have the International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC) involved and support people from low and middle-income countries to attend and to share their experiences with 19OPCC attendees,” Ms Callaghan said.

At 19OPCC, you will:

  • Have the opportunity to network with others working in palliative and end of life care
  • Interact with the decision makers of today, the future leaders of tomorrow, those who influence policy and the people involved in the latest palliative care research
  • Engage in a great social and self-care program
  • Participate in a variety of workshops and site-visits to provide in-depth learning experiences
