Mercy Health has announced the appointment of Simon Craig as Executive Director, Transformation & Improvement, following the transition of Clinton Cummins to Chief Executive Officer, Health Services.
In his new role, Mr Craig will lead Mercy Health’s organisation-wide transformation and improvement portfolio, focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for patients, residents, and communities.
Mr Craig steps into the position from his role as Director of Improvement & Analytics at Mercy Health. He has also held senior positions at the Department of Health and St Vincent’s Health Australia. His diverse experience includes more than a decade with Toyota and subsequent management consulting roles across defence, banking, and FMCG sectors — giving him a unique cross-sector perspective on strategy, transformation, and organisational performance.
In a release, Mr Craig said true transformation depends on empowering people.
“The process of transformation and improvement is more than system optimisation — it’s about an engaged and empowered workforce,” he said. “The ace up our sleeve at Mercy Health is our people, who are deeply committed to those we serve. My leadership is about empowering those at the coalface of care, because they know what’s best and can deliver the improvements that matter most.”
Mercy Health Group Chief Executive Officer Angela Nolan welcomed the appointment, saying Mr Craig’s breadth of experience and people-centred leadership would guide the organisation through its next phase of growth and innovation.
“Simon’s cross-sector and consultancy background, combined with his proven leadership within health and deep appreciation of our workforce, make him ideally suited to lead our transformation and improvement efforts at this pivotal time,” Ms Nolan added.
