Medication management company Medi-Map is working with WA care businesses to help them with the transition to an electronic medication management system and to take advantage of a grant to help with costs related to software, hardware and training.
There are three rounds of funding opportunities between July 2022 and December 2024, related to the adoption of the Transitional or CPv3.0 Conformant eNRMC Products in RACSs. The funding allocations are between $7,000 and $22,000 based on eligibility and decrease with each funding round.
The deadline for round 1 of the eNRMC adoption grant is March 30, 2023.
eNRMC products have been trialled in residential aged care facilities since 2018, with the aim of making them available nationally as part of the government’s response to the Aged Care Royal Commission.
In Western Australia, Medi-Map has been working with WA Health, aged care providers and pharmacists on a case-by-case basis to help provide further documentation and support to facilitate WA Health’s approval of their conformant eNRMC system. This includes the necessary documentation for the aforementioned eNRMC adoption grant and round 1 in particular.
Updated 16th November 2022: Medi-Map Medication Management V17.8 – transitionally conformant under the eNRMC Transitional Arrangement – is approved for use in Western Australia (WA) when part of a ‘closed’ electronic prescribing system between a residential aged care facility (RACF), including medical practitioners prescribing for residents of the RACF and a pharmacy.
Some of the additional requirements by WA Health include greater detail around governance and staff access to the system, procedures and a demonstration of its use as a ‘closed system’ between the RACF and their dispensing pharmacy.
