Overhaul of aged care payments systems begins with IT briefings

The Department of Health will hold two market briefings this week with IT providers as it investigates options for replacing the system currently used to deliver aged care, Medicare and other Government payments.

The briefings in Melbourne (Jan 11) and Sydney (Jan 12) will be held in conjunction with the Department of Human Services, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and the Digital Transformation Agency ahead of an anticipated Request for Proposal of alternate options for a new government payments system.

Last October the Department said it the RFP would be issued in early 2017 while the MYEFO confirmed that $31.5 million has been set aside for the first steps of overhauling Medicare payments IT system.
