Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) has appointed Patrick Reid as its next Chief Executive Officer from January 2027.

Mr Reid brings more than 25 years’ experience across health, aged care and human services, having held senior leadership positions in large, complex and purpose-led organisations.

He joins Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) from Uniting NSW.ACT, where he is Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for a broad portfolio spanning operations, finance, people, technology and data, property, transformation, risk, governance and customer experience.

He has previously served as Chief Executive Officer of IRT Group and aged care peak body Leading Age Services Australia (now Ageing Australia), giving him experience across aged care, retirement living, community services, sector advocacy, organisational transformation and governance.

SCC NSW & ACT board chair Caroline Waldron said Mr Reid’s aged care experience and track record in navigating complex change and delivering growth were key factors in his appointment.

“Patrick’s understanding of mission, coupled with his clear strategic thinking and exemplary career in aged care navigating complex changes while delivering sustained growth, positions him well to guide SCC (NSW & ACT) through the next phase of its strategic plan,” she said.

Mr Reid said SCC NSW & ACT’s purpose and strong community presence were major attractions.

“What attracted me to SCC is its strong purpose, its deep connection with the communities it serves, and the opportunity to contribute to an organisation whose work has a direct impact on the lives of older people and their families.”

Mr Reid said sustainable aged care organisations needed to bring together purpose, quality care, workforce capability and financial sustainability.

“I know that organisations like SCC are at their best when purpose, quality of care, a strong workforce and long-term sustainability reinforce each other,” he added.

“I am looking forward to getting to know the organisation and its people, and to working with them to build on SCC’s strengths and shape the next chapter together.”

Mr Reid’s appointment follows the departure of Ant Dureau from the SCC NSW & ACT board to take on the role of interim CEO in February 2026.

Mr Dureau will return to the board when Mr Reid commences as CEO in January.
