Resthaven resident George checks out the new floor plans.

Members of the Resthaven Chiton retirement living community in South Australia were today given a preview the upcoming $7.8 million redevelopment project. The new development boasts a seven-star energy rating and will add a host of new amenities, including additional retirement living units, a garden reserve, and a dedicated parking area for caravans.

Currently, the village comprises 29 homes. The redevelopment will introduce 11 new two-bedroom-plus-study units. Each unit is designed with sustainability in mind, featuring high-quality white goods, rainwater tanks, and energy-saving design features. Four of these units will come with double garages, catering to residents’ diverse needs.

“We’ve listened to our community and have planned the new venture in accordance with modern retirement living needs.”

Darren Birbeck, CEO of Resthaven

In line with Resthaven Chiton’s commitment to green living, the new landscaping will utilise carefully selected plants to enhance the village’s environmental rating. Future residents will also have access to the community Lakehouse, which includes a resident-run bar area, kitchen, library, hall, gym, and lounge areas. The Lakehouse’s deck offers picturesque views of the local wetland, home to diverse birdlife.

Builders have been invited to tender for the construction, with work expected to commence in the third quarter of 2024.

Prospective new residents can view the designs and floor plans upon request, offering a glimpse into the future of retirement living at Resthaven Chiton.
