RSL Care + RDNS announces new acquisitions

RSL Care + RDNS has expanded its services across geographic and service boundaries, with new acquisitions in NSW and South Australia.

Already one of Australia’s largest independent not-for-profit health and retirement living providers, the organisation has recently finalised its acquisition of a premium retirement living community at Port Macquarie, NSW and broadened its community care reach with the acquisition of Your Choice HomeCare in Sydney’s inner west and the NewAccess mental health team in South Australia.

RSL Care + RDNS Chief Executive Officer Stephen Muggleton said the new services would enhance the organisation’s ability to deliver flexible, customer-directed care to diverse client groups, including people with disabilities receiving NDIS support and people needing early intervention mental healthcare.

“Extending our capabilities through these acquisitions means we can continue to offer our customers the choice, control and continuum of care they expect in the consumer-directed care environment,” he said.

RSL Care + RDNS acquired Your Choice HomeCare, based in Leichhardt, in Sydney’s inner west and began delivering services on 25 November 2016.

It provides responsive health and wellness support for people receiving packaged care to help them stay independent at home, and for people with disabilities receiving assistance through the NDIS.

The NewAccess program, developed by beyondblue, will be delivered in collaboration with ReturnToWorkSA.

RSL Care + RDNS acquired the 10-member team of NewAccess coaches from UnitingCare Wesley Port Adelaide, and began delivering services on 1 December 2016.

The program has been rigorously tested and proven to deliver significantly improved outcomes for participants. It provides Low-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (LiCBT) to people with mild to moderate depression and/or anxiety, and is delivered by a new, specifically trained coach workforce.

It is a unique program in the Australian mental health sector that reduces stigma and promotes easy access for people with mild to moderate needs who do not access other mental health services.

The purchase of Broadwater Gardens Retirement Community in Port Macquarie will bring an additional 42 freestanding homes and four riverside apartments to the RSL Care + RDNS portfolio.

The organisation’s General Manager – Retirement Living, Richard Andrews, said Broadwater Gardens is one of Port Macquarie’s most prestigious over-55s estates in what is one of Australia’s premium retirement lifestyle destinations.

“This purchase reinforces our commitment to offering innovative solutions and integrated community care options that give people choice and independence in retirement, including through responsive design. Broadwater Gardens was designed specifically to meet local customer demand for larger, well-designed and located homes for active and social retirees,” he said.
