Samsung tablet trial delivers ‘drastic’ results for Catholic Health Care

Giving clients the ability to view scheduled home care appointments and make changes using a tablet device has“drastically” reduced calls to its call centres, Catholic Health Care says.

The organisation trialled the use of Samsung tablets running the Breezie aged care app with 100 regular home care clients over the last year.

Visibility of who was coming and when home care visits would be conducted was previously limited for clients, but these matters accounted for a significant number of calls to Catholic Health Care’s call centre.

Through the system – that does not require a pincode or login – the client can view their scheduled visits and request any changes or cancellations. They can also video call their care advisor.

The tablet solution has now become a standard part of the provider’s home care package and is a finalist in the healthcare category of the iTnews Benchmark Awards for 2017/18.

Catholic Healthcare says it is now looking at whether the tablet can be used as a base for health monitoring using IoT devices.
