The Chairman of the Anglican Community Services (trading as Anglicare and Anglicare Sydney) Board, Mr Greg Hammond OAM has today announced the appointment of Mr Simon Miller as the next CEO, commencing in February 2022.

He replaces Grant Millard who announced his retirement earlier in the year after more than 10 years with the Christian not-for-profit.

Mr Miller is currently the Managing Director and Senior Partner at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and has over 14 years’ experience in advising the Boards, CEOs and Executives of Australia’s top companies on strategy, growth, digital transformation, AI and advanced analytics, and M&A.

Prior to BCG, Mr Miller spent 11 years with the NSW government in a number of roles, including Director, Economic Policy to the Premier of NSW.

The recruitment process was undertaken by a Board committee assisted by Mr Malcolm Duncan of executive search company The Insight Group. The Board committee also worked closely with the Anglican Archbishop of Sydney Kanishka Raffel throughout the selection process.

“The leadership of this organisation is one of the key positions of responsibility and trust in the Diocese, and I’m just so thankful to God for the way He has led the Board through this selection process, and the wonderful news of the appointment of Simon,” said Archbishop Raffel.

Mr Hammond commented on the high standard of applicants, noting that the expressions of interest included a number from remarkable Christian men and women.

Mr Miller was ultimately selected because of his personal alignment to Anglicare’s vision, mission and values, his strategic business acumen, his extensive experience in people management and his capacity to lead and motivate the organisation towards its strategic goals.

Mr Miller expressed a firm commitment to Anglicare’s history and excited anticipation for the challenges and new prospects in its future.

“Anglicare is an organisation that has such a wonderful history. 160 plus years of serving the city for Christ…that history, that richness, is deeply attractive to me.

“But I also think that it’s the future. The way that we can continue to deepen and extend the way we love the city in the name of Christ is really exciting, and I’m really looking forward to the challenge and opportunity of doing that. And those things together – that history and that future – are why I’m really attracted to Anglicare.” added Mr Miller.

Mr Miller holds a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM), and a Master of Public Affairs and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney. He is currently studying for a Master of Divinity through Ridley College.
