St Vincent’s Care and Ozcare have announced the transition of the St Vincent’s Care Douglas facility, a 140-bed aged care residence in Townsville, Queensland.

Ozcare has pledged to retain all current staff under comparable terms, preserve residents’ rooms, and maintain existing services. The transition is set to be finalised by February 3, 2025.

In a statement, Lincoln Hopper, CEO of St Vincent’s Care, emphasised Ozcare’s alignment with St Vincent’s mission, values, and commitment to compassionate care. “Ozcare’s focus in regional Queensland, particularly in Townsville, makes them the ideal operator for Douglas,” Hopper said.

“Our mission to deliver compassionate, high-quality care aligns perfectly with what St Vincent’s has provided at Douglas.”

The transition comes as St Vincent’s focuses its services on south-east Queensland, NSW, and Victoria.

Both organisations are implementing a joint transition plan, offering on-site support and regular updates to ensure a smooth changeover for residents, families, and staff.
