In this partner post, SilVR Adventures outlines how its immersive workforce VR training and AI-powered engagement platform are designed to support more informed, person-centred care, from helping staff experience some of the sensory challenges residents may face to sharing personalised activity insights across care teams. SilVR is a past Future of Ageing Awards winner – a program run by this publication.
SilVR combines immersive workforce training with an AI-powered engagement platform. One helps staff understand how a resident may experience care. The other helps teams turn what they know about each person into meaningful activity and a record of their response.
Consider a television playing in a communal room. Through SilVR’s workforce VR training, staff can experience how hearing-aid distortion may make the sound uncomfortable, while macular degeneration makes faces and lip movements harder to read.
That experience gives staff another way to interpret early signs of discomfort. They might reduce competing noise, check the hearing aid, change where the resident is sitting or offer a quieter space before distress builds. It is practical training for a more informed, individual approach to care.

The experience also gives teams something concrete to discuss: what became difficult, what they noticed and what they could change in their own care environment. A familiar communal room can look and sound very different when experienced through the sensory conditions that affect residents.
Alongside it, SilVR’s AI-powered engagement platform, Pathways, brings together each resident’s life story and interests, curates a personalised VR experience playbook, and records what was delivered, when, by whom and how the person responded to the session. All team members can share that knowledge across shifts to save time, improve results, and evidence engagement with data and insights.
By using AI to tailor experiences to the individual, Pathways may support person-centred care and non-pharmacological approaches to engagement at scale. Staff can draw on each resident’s interests and previous responses when choosing what to offer next.
For example, knowing that a resident enjoys travel is a starting point. Knowing which places matter to them, which experiences they chose and whether a session prompted conversation, smiles or discomfort gives the next staff member more to work with. They can build on a positive response or try a different experience, with that learning available to the wider team.
This makes personalised resident experiences available across teams and shifts, with information visible beyond the lifestyle team only. Care staff can see what has worked previously, deliver a relevant experience and record the resident’s response for colleagues to build on.
For care leaders, those records make engagement visible across their homes. Pathways’ reporting tools may also be helpful for HELF programs, helping providers evidence the activities delivered, including who participated, when sessions took place and the responses recorded by staff.

Residents can explore an experience library in 40 languages, revisit meaningful places through our real-time Google Earth integration, and take part in interactive fitness and cognitive learning programs, and creative art activities, making full use of the latest Ultra headsets and their capabilities.
SilVR’s VR travel and wellbeing experiences were examined in peer-reviewed and published research led by Deakin University. The study observed increased engagement and social interaction, improved mood and reduced signs of agitation. We’re also immensely proud that our work with care partners won consecutive Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards in 2025 and 2026.
