Amana Living transfers Kalgoorlie aged care operations to Respect

Amana Living has announced the transfer of its Kalgoorlie aged care operations to Respect, effective 1 May 2025. The transition includes Edward Collick Home, Muschamp Village, and Amana Living’s home care services.

For over 40 years, Amana Living has provided aged care in Kalgoorlie, striving to deliver exceptional care despite the challenges of regional service delivery. However, workforce shortages, rising infrastructure costs, and the complexities of managing services remotely from Perth have made it increasingly difficult to maintain operations at the expected high standard.

To secure the long-term future of aged care in the region, Amana Living selected Respect, a not-for-profit provider founded in Tasmania that has a string of acquisitions and a reputation for acquiring businesses and turning them around. Inside Ageing spoke with Respect’s CEO Jason Binder a couple of years ago about their approach.

Stephanie Buckland, Chief Executive Officer of Amana Living, emphasised that the decision prioritises the well-being of residents, clients, families, and staff.

“Our priority has always been to provide the highest quality of care to the people we serve. We are confident that Respect will sustain and enhance aged care services in the Goldfields. Importantly, this transition ensures continuity of care, job security for our staff, and a seamless experience for residents, clients, and families.”

Residents, clients, and staff can expect a smooth transition with several key assurances:

  • Consistency of Care and Services – High-quality care and services will continue without disruption.
  • Security of Tenure – Residential and retirement living contracts remain unchanged.
  • Staff Employment and Conditions – All Amana Living employees will be offered employment with Respect on the same terms and conditions.
  • Comprehensive Transition Plan – Amana Living and Respect will manage the transition collaboratively, working closely with all stakeholders, including government bodies and local partners.

Jason Binder, CEO and Managing Director of Respect, welcomed the opportunity to build upon Amana Living’s legacy and reinforce aged care services in the region.

“Respect is committed to delivering exceptional care for older people living in rural and regional Australia and ensuring aged care services remain sustainable and accessible to local families,” Mr Binder said.

“With our strong community focus and commitment to fostering local connections, we feel privileged to be entrusted with the care of Kalgoorlie’s older residents,” he added.

A dedicated transition team will be based in Kalgoorlie to support residents, clients, families, and staff throughout the process. The transition is expected to be completed by 1 May 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.
