Anglicare Sydney has officially started construction on Heirloom, a first-of-its-kind waterfront restaurant set within the Woolooware Shores seniors’ living village in Taren Point, Sydney. Overlooking Woolooware Bay, Heirloom will be the first waterfront dining experience in a seniors’ living community across the city.

A sod-turning ceremony was held to mark the milestone, attended by Anglicare CEO Simon Miller, Woolooware Shores Village General Manager Liza Fox, and representatives from construction partner Meridian, project manager Willow Frank, and Federal MP Simon Kennedy.

Inspired by Mediterranean coastal living, Heirloom’s design will feature soft curves, earthy terracotta, and travertine tones, blending seamlessly with its picturesque waterfront location. With seating for up to 100 guests, the venue will offer both indoor and outdoor dining, encouraging visitors to gather, enjoy fresh produce, and soak in the stunning bay views.

A standout feature will be the open-plan kitchen and woodfire pizza oven, adding a sensory experience to the dining atmosphere. Residents of Woolooware Shores will also contribute personal heirlooms to be woven into the interior design, creating a deeply nostalgic and personal touch.

Woolooware Shores Village General Manager Liza Fox said the venue will reflect Woolooware Shores’ lifestyle-first offering and unique approach to seniors living.

“As its name suggests, Heirloom isn’t just about great food – it’s about creating a place where people feel at home, where conversations flow easily, and where the beauty of Woolooware Bay enhances every dining experience. It will be a space for residents to connect, while also welcoming the wider community to enjoy this incredible location.”

Construction is set for completion in late 2025, with Heirloom opening to the public shortly thereafter. Further updates on chef appointments and menu previews will be shared in the coming months.
