BaptistCare has taken another major step toward a net-zero future, signing a second Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for its operations in Western Australia. Partnering with Alinta Energy, the aged care and community services provider will now link its WA energy usage to renewable energy, continuing its commitment to environmental responsibility and equitable energy transition.
The new agreement builds on BaptistCare’s existing PPA with Flow Energy for services in New South Wales and the ACT, and will supply around 4GWh of clean energy annually. The energy will be sourced from the Yandin Wind Farm, allowing BaptistCare to reduce its scope 2 carbon footprint in WA by nearly 100%.
“Soon after seeing the positive impact of our NSW and ACT agreement, we began exploring opportunities for our Western Australia sites…this is another important step in our journey to become net zero by 2050 or before.”
Charles Moore, CEO, BaptistCare
The agreement reflects BaptistCare’s broader strategy to integrate sustainability into its care model. “We care for some of the most vulnerable people in our communities,” said Thomas Griffiths, Head of Strategy and Investments. “Our PPAs help ensure they’re not left behind in the renewable energy transition.”
Chris Campbell, Executive Director of Retail Markets at Alinta Energy, says the partnership is a model for the sector. “This is a great example of how we can support organisations to access affordable, sustainable energy while continuing to deliver essential services,” he said.
BaptistCare’s WA PPA not only advances its climate goals but sets an example of leadership in this area for the sector.
