The Albanese Government has announced a $250 million investment through Round 2 of the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program (ACCAP) to improve aged care services in regional, rural, and remote communities.

This funding will support 52 infrastructure projects, delivering over 400 additional beds and improving facilities for high-needs care, including dementia services. The initiative also emphasizes enhancing cultural care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander elders.

Key Allocations Include:

• $50 million for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander care, including:

• $25 million for five Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations to deliver services nationwide.

• $25 million for a new 100-bed aged care home in Perth.

• Projects will modernise facilities, reduce shared rooms, and create home-like environments, supporting not-for-profits and community-based providers while generating employment opportunities.

This investment builds on the $134.9 million allocated in Round 1, which supported 76 rural and remote projects.

“Round 2 of ACCAP will help rural and remote aged care providers to deliver appropriate cultural care and create more home-like environments, with comfortable and modern amenities, more liveable spaces and fewer shared rooms.”
