IRT Group CEO Patrick Reid has resigned after eight years at the helm of the aged care and retirement living provider.
Mr Reid is stepping down to take on a similar role at another community services organisation, described by IRT as a competitor, and has ceased day-to-day duties effective immediately. The IRT Board has commenced the search for a permanent successor, with interim arrangements now in place.
Announcing the resignation today, IRT Chair Peter Fitzgerald thanked Mr Reid for his leadership through some of the organisation’s most pivotal moments.
“Patrick’s leadership has been outstanding,” Mr Fitzgerald said. “From navigating the complexities of the Royal Commission and the implementation of the Aged Care Quality Standards to guiding us through bushfires, floods and a global pandemic—his impact has been significant and lasting.”
During Mr Reid’s tenure, IRT evolved in response to a rapidly changing aged care landscape, with a renewed focus on quality, compliance, innovation, and community engagement. IRT Group, in conjunction with Extranet Systems, won a 2024 Future of Ageing Award for their co-developed fall detector and health monitoring solution.
Prior to joining IRT, Mr Reid served as CEO of Leading Aged Services Australia (LASA), the sector’s peak body, which later merged to become what is now known as Ageing Australia.
“It’s a truly special organisation—made so by the passion and commitment of its people. It’s been an honour to be their custodian, and I hand over the baton with pride and gratitude.
Patrick Reid
Ross Gallagher, IRT’s Executive General Manager of Home Care and Retirement Living, will assume the role of Interim CEO.
