The Regional, Rural and Remote Home Care Workforce Support Program is an Australian Government grant opportunity running from 2024-25 to 2026-27.
With funding of $20.134 million over three years, it aims to build the home care workforce in regional, rural, and remote locations (Modified Monash Model 3-7 areas) where shortages are most acute. The program seeks to recruit 4,000 new Personal Care Workers, support their training, and enhance providers’ capacity to attract and retain workers.
Eligible applicants include approved home care providers, aged care peak bodies, recruitment agencies, training organisations, and others with relevant experience. They must demonstrate cultural awareness and trauma responsiveness, particularly in regional areas.
The program has three main themes: recruiting new workers, supporting training completion, and enhancing provider capabilities. Activities may include promoting employment opportunities, facilitating training partnerships, providing mentorship, and improving workforce planning.
Grants between $3.3 million and $5.0 million per region are anticipated. Applicants must address all three themes and tailor activities to regional needs.
The program aims to grow and retain the workforce, ensure new workers have the necessary skills, and improve links between industry stakeholders to facilitate the attraction and training of personal care workers.
