Victorian aged care provider mecwacare has strengthened its presence in Victoria’s inner west with the acquisition of Allanvale Private Nursing Home, now known as mecwacare Allanvale, in Altona Meadows.
The 51-bed facility, built in 2014, has been providing high-quality aged care to the community for over a decade. Its integration into mecwacare’s growing network of aged care homes brings the organisation’s total number of residential facilities across Victoria to 22. Other recent acquisitions include facilities in Bendigo as reported here.
Samuel Sharma, Executive General Manager – Residential and Housing Services at mecwacare, said the acquisition reflects the organisation’s long-term commitment to supporting older Victorians in their own communities.
“mecwacare has been present in the Altona area since 2021, when we acquired Squires Place, a 60-bed facility. The addition of mecwacare Allanvale will ensure even more residents in Melbourne’s west can continue to age in a community they know and love.”

Residents at mecwacare Allanvale will benefit from the organisation’s holistic care model, including 24/7 registered nursing, dementia support, allied health services, social activities, and tailored clinical and personal care programs.
James Cramond, Executive General Manager – Strategy and Transformation, described the acquisition as a strategic step forward.
“This marks a significant milestone in mecwacare’s growth strategy. As the demand for quality aged care services rises, particularly in fast-growing regions like Altona Meadows, we’re committed to expanding our footprint to meet community needs,” Mr Cramond said.
The facility will offer dementia-friendly, general residential, palliative and respite care services.
“We look forward to a seamless transition and continuing to provide the highest standard of care for residents and their families,” Mr Sharma added.
In addition to residential care, mecwacare is also one of Victoria’s leading providers of home care services.
