RSL LifeCare has announced a major renewal of the iconic RSL ANZAC Village in Narrabeen, unveiling its first-ever site-wide masterplan to transform the 86-year-old community into a modern, connected haven for veterans and seniors.

The proposed redevelopment, to be delivered in stages over 10 to 15 years, will replace outdated buildings with contemporary homes, introduce new services and amenities, and centre around two new precincts: a Lifestyle and Wellness Precinct, and a Main Street and Health Precinct. These will be linked by green spaces, walking trails and commemorative areas.

“This masterplan allows us to build on a proud legacy in a way that’s cohesive, inclusive and true to our purpose.”

RSL LifeCare CEO Janet Muir

The project responds to pressing needs across Sydney’s Northern Beaches, where seniors’ housing falls short by 1,500 homes, and demand is rising by 200 dwellings annually. With New South Wales facing a projected shortfall of 65,000 aged care workers over the next decade, the renewal will also offer improved workspaces and job opportunities to support the sector.

Residents, staff, veterans and the local community have helped shape the plan, and RSL LifeCare is encouraging ongoing input via its Have Your Say portal. A Community Reference Group will also be formed to guide the process.

“This isn’t just about updating buildings—it’s about reimagining how we live as a community,” Muir said. “This transformation honours our legacy while delivering a vibrant, purpose-driven environment where older Australians can age with dignity and independence.”

Development applications will be lodged as a State Significant Development with the NSW Government by late 2025.
