Vicki Cain

Anglicare Southern Queensland (Anglicare SQ) has appointed Victoria Cain as Clinical Lead for its Specialist Dementia Care Program (SDCP) units, following a $12 million grant from the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care. The funding will support the implementation of new SDCPs at Abri Residential Aged Care Home on the Gold Coast and EM Tooth Residential Aged Care Home in Brisbane South, expanding on the existing program at St Martin’s Residential Aged Care Home in Taigum.

Ms Cain, a registered nurse with extensive experience in aged care, will oversee the development and clinical management of the new and existing SDCP units, ensuring best-practice dementia care. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing and a postgraduate degree in Gerontology from Griffith University and has held roles such as Dementia Consultant and National Consumer Dignity & Risk Advocate.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Anglicare so far and my goal once all SDCP units are up and running, will be to coordinate our homes to support evidence-based practice.”

Anglicare’s SDCPs provide specialised environments for residents living with severe dementia symptoms, offering emotional and mental health support.

The new SDCPs are expected to be operational by the end of the year, contributing to the national goal of 35 SDCP units.
