ARIIA funding renewed

Reuben Jacob, Chief Executive Officer, Aged Care Research & Industry Innovation Australia (ARIIA)

The Australian Government has committed an additional $13 million to support innovation and improvement in aged care services. This funding will be allocated to Aged Care Research and Industry Innovation Australia (ARIIA) to bolster its role in driving advancements across the sector. A significant portion of the investment will focus on creating an Aged Care Innovation Network to foster collaboration among aged care providers, researchers, and industry leaders.

Additionally, the funds will be used to promote cutting-edge research projects that address challenges in the aged care sector, particularly those related to improving workforce capabilities and delivering personalised, high-quality care. These initiatives align with the government’s broader reform efforts to modernise aged care and respond to the growing needs of Australia’s ageing population.

Formed in 2021 ARIIA has so far:

  • built a Knowledge and Implementation Hub that provides trusted, easy to use and up-to-date information and resources
  • assisted hundreds of aged care workers to develop local, innovative solutions and implement change in their workplaces through its Innovator Training Program
  • funded over 60 projects through its Research Grants Program.

Aged Care Minister Anika Wells says that this investment is part of a long-term vision to ensure that aged care services are better equipped to meet future demands, focusing on innovative practices and improving care standards.

The initiative is also expected to enhance training opportunities for aged care workers, ultimately benefiting both the workforce and the older Australians they serve.
