Sunrise Supported Living Tuncurry and BaptistCare have announced an agreement that will see operations of the Sunrise retirement village and its associated home care service transferred to BaptistCare later this year.
The transition encompasses Sunrise Supported Living Tuncurry’s 106 independent living units and Sunrise Home Care, which provides services to 66 village residents and an additional 190 clients across the Mid North Coast. Approximately 90 Sunrise employees will be offered employment with BaptistCare to ensure continuity of care and trusted relationships remain in place.
The agreement follows due diligence between the two organisations and is expected to be finalised in October 2025.
Paul Greenup, Director of Sunrise, said the decision was made with residents, clients, and staff in mind. “We undertook a thorough assessment to ensure any future operator of Sunrise shared our values and commitment to care. BaptistCare’s long-standing reputation and strong local presence gave us great confidence,” he said.
“Their experience and values make them an ideal fit to carry Sunrise’s legacy forward.”

BaptistCare is one of Australia’s largest not-for-profit aged care and community services providers. Earlier this year, it joined with Baptcare (VIC, TAS, SA) and Baptist Care SA to form a newly merged national organisation supporting more than 38,000 people nationwide.
Charles Moore, CEO of BaptistCare, said the organisation was proud to continue the work Sunrise has established in the region. “Sunrise has built a strong and trusted presence in the Mid North Coast community, and we’re proud to continue that legacy under the Sunrise name, now supported by the scale and stability of BaptistCare,” Mr Moore said.
“This acquisition allows us to extend our commitment to personalised, values-driven care to even more people, building on our presence in the region through our Mid North Coast BaptistCare at Home team, our Blue Gum Cottage social club in Taree and BaptistCare Kularoo residential aged care home in Forster,” Mr Moore added.
Residents, clients and employees will receive detailed information in the coming weeks and be invited to information sessions to support them throughout the transition.
