Disability support platform Hireup has officially entered the aged care sector, aiming to help older Australians remain in their homes and provide much-needed workforce support to home care providers.
Founded in 2015 by siblings Laura and Jordan O’Reilly, Hireup has grown into one of Australia’s largest online platforms connecting people with disability to support workers of their choice. The company’s expansion into aged care builds on its relationship-first model, giving older Australians the same control, dignity, and continuity of care it has delivered to the disability community for a decade.
The move comes as the aged care sector faces unprecedented demand. With the federal government’s Support at Home reforms commencing in November 2025 and plans for 300,000 additional home care places over the next decade, providers are under pressure to address chronic workforce shortages.
“We built Hireup to put people at the centre of their support,” said CEO and co-founder Laura O’Reilly. “That same approach can help solve one of the biggest challenges families face today, finding the right support for ageing loved ones who want to remain in their own homes.”
Through its digital platform, Hireup connects clients and providers with a vetted network of employed support workers. Users can select who delivers their care, fostering stronger, more consistent relationships. For home care providers, the platform offers a flexible and reliable workforce solution at scale.
Hireup’s model is rooted in personal experience. Laura and Jordan were inspired by helping their grandfather, Frank, live independently at home. With a handpicked team supporting him with daily tasks, appointments, and community outings, Frank maintains his independence and connection to his community.
Since its launch, Hireup has facilitated more than 152,000 support connections and over 21 million hours of care. Today, it supports 11,000 clients annually, with more than 14,000 workers delivering services across 82% of Australian postcodes and in more than 70 languages.
To strengthen its leadership in this next phase, Hireup has appointed Michele Smith OAM and Paralympian Annabelle Williams OAM to its board, bringing extensive experience in health, aged care, and advocacy.
