ECH, South Australia’s largest retirement living and in-home care provider, has appointed respected health sector leader Alan Morrison as its new Chief Executive, commencing in January 2026.
Mr Morrison joins ECH following more than two decades of leadership experience, most recently as Chief Executive Officer of Burnside Hospital and Deputy Chair of HESTA Super Fund. During his tenure at Burnside Hospital, he oversaw significant growth, including securing approval from the State Commission Assessment Panel for the hospital’s $65 million expansion.
His career also includes 11 years as CEO of Sportsmed and professional services roles with KPMG in both Australia and the United Kingdom.
ECH Board Chair Rosina Hislop said Mr Morrison’s appointment positions the organisation strongly as the aged care sector undergoes significant reform with the introduction of Support at Home.
“Alan is known for his innovative and insightful leadership and his ability to find original solutions for complex challenges,” Ms Hislop said.
“He has a proven record of delivering better outcomes for customers, staff and partners while fostering a strong and positive culture. His experience in guiding organisations through times of change will enable ECH to respond confidently to the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
Accepting the role, Mr Morrison said he was proud to lead an organisation that supports more than 7,000 older South Australians to live independently.
“ECH plays an important role in the community, and with its strong foundation, it is well-positioned to take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead.”
