What were your highlight/s for 2024?
In November, we welcomed staff and residents from eleven retirement villages in South Australia as they moved from Aveo to join us under the Resthaven banner. In the months before this, we held resident meetings at each of the sites, and these were a great opportunity for me, along with Mel Ottaway, our Executive responsible for retirement living, to get to know these new residents and understand what is important to them.
Earlier in the year, we held our inaugural Resthaven Excellence Awards, a program that formally recognises and celebrates our staff and volunteer achievements. It was truly inspiring to hear the personal stories and gratitude for the positive impact that our people have on shaping our culture and the customer experience.
What are you most looking forward to in 2025?
Established in 1935, Resthaven will celebrate its 90th anniversary next year! We are proud of our history, and we’ll mark the occasion with events at all our sites, the release of a commemorative calendar, and the launch of our history website.
We’re also ready for a big year of changes with the new legislation around aged care reforms and the beginning of the Support at Home program. Last year, we invested in new, larger Community Services offices at Sefton Park and Mount Gambier. The demand for at-home services is certainly growing, and we are well-positioned to meet the ever-changing needs of clients in our community.
What books will you be reading over the summer holiday break?
