Glenella Care, a long-standing aged care provider in Queensland, is set to join one of Australia’s largest regional aged care organisations, Respect, in a move designed to preserve its 35-year legacy.

From 1 December 2025, Glenella Care will officially become part of the Respect community.

Respect, a not-for-profit organisation, will expand to 40 aged care homes across five states following the transition. Known for its focus on person-centred care and reinvestment in regional communities, Respect continues to build a strong reputation for supporting residents, families, and staff alike.

Respect CEO and Managing Director Jason Binder said the organisation was proud to welcome Glenella Care into its network.

“Glenella Care has been providing care for close to 35 years,” Mr Binder said. “It was founded by a family who believed older people should be able to age with dignity, surrounded by the people and places they know and love. That belief is at the heart of everything we do at Respect.”

Established as a 62-bed nursing home, Glenella Care has grown into a 108-bed residential and respite care facility, recognised for its welcoming environment, landscaped gardens, and dedicated staff.

Owner Renata Litton said the decision to join Respect was made with great care and confidence.

“After close to 35 years of owning and running Glenella Care, we knew the time would come to step back,” she said. “Choosing the right organisation to carry on our legacy was essential. Respect’s values, reputation, and commitment to quality care align perfectly with what Glenella stands for.”

The transition comes as aged care providers across Australia adjust to the new Aged Care Act, which prioritises the rights, dignity, and well-being of older people.

Mr Binder added that Respect’s regional model ensures sustainable operations while keeping residents at the heart of care.
