The Benevolent Society has announced the appointment of Kevin Barrow as its new Chief Executive. He will officially commence in the role on 14 October 2025.
Mr Barrow brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in the healthcare and not-for-profit sectors. Most recently, he served as CEO of Sydney North Health Network (Northern Sydney PHN), where he led system-wide reforms in primary healthcare, focusing on collaboration, community empowerment and stronger safety nets for vulnerable people.
He previously headed the Butterfly Foundation, where he oversaw major initiatives including the creation of Wandi Nerida, Australia’s first residential treatment centre for eating disorders, and the national rollout of the Butterfly Body Bright program in primary schools. His career also includes senior executive roles with Philips Australia & New Zealand and Becton Dickinson Pty Ltd, as well as governance positions across health and medical technology organisations.
The Benevolent Society Board Chair, Ken Smith, welcomed the appointment, saying:
“We are delighted to welcome Kevin to Benevolent. He brings extensive leadership experience and a strong understanding of partnering and connecting in community service delivery. Kevin’s leadership will help consolidate our current services while supporting growth and diversification. His people-focused approach is a natural fit for our organisation’s values and the diverse communities we support.”
In a statement, Mr Barrow said he is honoured to join an organisation with such a long and proud history.
“I look forward to working with the Board, Executive team, and Benevolent staff to continue building on the great work already underway, and to help shape the next chapter of the organisation’s journey.”
