Keyton, a retirement living developer, has made a significant move by acquiring 500 Burwood Highway in Vermont South, Melbourne. This marks Keyton’s first land purchase under its new name, transitioning from its origins as Lendlease Retirement Living.
Keyton’s Head of Development Jason Fitzgerald said that the site offers a prime location and the potential for creating a connected retirement community – aligning with Keyton’s growth strategy.
Fitzgerald noted that the site, known for its former Australian Roads Research Board headquarters, offers established services, retail, and transport infrastructure, and boasts views of the Dandenong Ranges. The development aims to provide high-quality, sustainable residences for seniors, incorporating the preservation of a heritage building as a central community feature.
The federal government has recognised that retirement living communities can help ease the housing shortage in its recent decision to include retirement living units in its national target for 1.2 million new homes over the next five years.
