The recently re-developed Uniting Edinglassie Emu Plains in Sydney’s west was named winner of the Aged Care category at the 2022 Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) NSW Awards for Excellence last Friday.
The win is another for Uniting’s trophy cabinet with their Bowden Brae retirement village in Normanhurst taking home top honours at The Urban Developer Awards for Industry Excellence and the Urban Taskforce Australia Awards earlier this month. Read more about that project here.
The $36 million redevelopment of Uniting Edinglassie Emu Plains, which was completed last year, strongly embraces the notion of ‘home’ and created a modern facility that can cater to and adapt to the individual needs of its residents as they age.
Uniting NSW.ACT Head of Property Development Adrian Ciano said Uniting is focused on delivering homes that allow residents to age-in-place in a caring, comfortable and supportive environment.
“This significant industry recognition is wonderful for everyone at Uniting and affirms everything we’re striving to achieve for our residents and their families,” he said.
“Well-designed properties like Uniting Edinglassie help facilitate great care and service outcomes, providing residents with a welcoming environment to call home and a positive place for our employees to come to work each day.”
Uniting Edinglassie Emu Plains is specifically designed to deliver Uniting’s innovative household model of care, which empowers residents with the freedom to make choices about their daily routines and activities.
It features modern rooms with ensuites, personalised living spaces, a communal garden, chapel, hair salon and tree-lined grounds as shown in the video below:
