TriCare Mt Gravatt Retirement’s first-ever resident celebrates 33 years in care

TriCare Mt Gravatt Retirement's first resident Brenda Murnane

Brenda Murnane, the first resident of TriCare Mt Gravatt Retirement Community, recently celebrated over three decades of care at the facility. At 101 years old, Brenda paid tribute to the place she has called home for 33 years, sharing cherished memories with long-time friends and fellow residents.

“It’s very surreal celebrating 33 years of this incredible community – a lot has changed since the day I first moved in,” Brenda said.

“When I moved into TriCare, there were only a few houses built on the block. It wasn’t until a few years later that they built the reception, the roads, more houses and units, and other residents started moving in.”

Reflecting on the transformation of the community, Brenda noted the numerous social activities, beautiful lakes and gardens, cozy sitting areas with fireplaces, and several dining spaces that have become part of TriCare Mt Gravatt.

“It’s not common to grow alongside a retirement community, so I’m very grateful to have experienced this place evolve into what it is today,” she added.

Village Manager Louise Mathers shared. “It was so lovely to welcome back our first-ever resident for a very special celebration.”

“Brenda was and always will be a well-loved and cherished resident of our community,” she added.

While Brenda no longer resides in retirement, the facility welcomes her back anytime and wishes her a smooth transition into aged care.
