Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) appoints new Chair, unveils strategic plan

Mike Christensen

Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) has announced the appointment of Mike Christensen as the new Chair of the Board, effective July 1, 2024.

Christensen, a board member since 2021, brings experience in finance, property, and governance, having successfully chaired the Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee and the Property Committee. His leadership is expected to be pivotal as the organisation embarks on a new strategic journey to drive growth, innovation, and excellence in care over the next three years.

The outgoing Chair, Lawrie Hallinan, will step down from his position but remain on the Board as a Director. Hallinan’s tenure as Chair over the past four years has seen significant contributions, including strengthening Board governance, recruiting new Directors and a CEO, and guiding the organisation through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and its 50th Anniversary.

“This is a pivotal moment for Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT),” said Monique Reynolds, CEO of Southern Cross Care.

“With the approval of our new strategic plan, we are well-positioned for future success. Mike Christensen’s leadership, combined with the ongoing support of Lawrie Hallinan and our highly skilled Board, will be crucial as we implement our strategic initiatives and enhance the services we provide.”

“I am honoured to take on the role of Chair at such an important time for Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT). Our new strategic plan sets a clear path for innovation and growth, and I am excited to work with our dedicated team to achieve our goals and continue providing exceptional care and support to our community.”
