Maggie Beer is set to lead a transformative social experiment in her upcoming series, “Maggie Beer’s Big Mission,” co-produced by Screen Australia, ABC, and Screenwest.
The show aims to enhance the lives of older Australians by overhauling an aged care facility in Perth.
With a team of experts, Maggie will revamp meals, the dining experience, and the surroundings over four months, addressing challenges to deliver a nutritious and enjoyable menu to residents. The project is described as Maggie’s most ambitious, with the potential to serve as a model for a new approach to aged care.
The documentary by WA-based Artemis Media explores Maggie’s journey to revolutionise aged care through culinary innovation and redesigned spaces.
ABC head of factual Susie Jones expected the series to “surprise and delight ABC audiences while bringing about real-world change”.
“We are thrilled to have Maggie Beer spearhead such an important national conversation that affects all Australians,” she said.
Screen Australia’s Head of Documentary Alex West said, “Maggie Beer’s Big Mission is poised to captivate audiences as it follows Maggie’s magnificent journey to revolutionise aged care through culinary innovation and reimagined spaces. This ambitious project showcases Maggie’s culinary prowess and determination and raises important questions about the future of aged care in Australia.
